Best Sugar Cookies!
I have found the yummiest recipe for sugar cookies and thought I would share it with you...
1 C. Sugar
1 C. Margarine (In our house we only have butter)
2 Egges
1 Cup Sour Cream (low fat works too)
1 tsp. soda (in sour cream)
CREAM TOGETHER
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp lemon Flavoring
1/2 tsp almond flavoring
4 Cups flour (also have used rice flour)
*Refrigerate overnight
*Roll dough out, but and bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
For the tastiest frosting ever - seriously
2/3 Cup butter, softened
4 Cups confectioners' sugar
2 Tbls milk
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
food coloring
*In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, confectioners' sugar and milk until light and fluffy - about 3 - 4 minutes.
Beat in the vanilla and food coloring. Spread on or between cookies!
The frosting makes about the same as a small/normal container of store bought frosting.
Enjoy!
P.S. Do you have any great ways of storing your recipe's I have two binders ( I like the full page print out) and lots of books...

He Did It!
Keep in mind that my dear husb has never been a runner - skateboarding and snowboarding in high school were his athletic abilities.
It was in early November that he started his training with my personal trainer - aka - newest roommate - aka - little bro - in - law...Greg.
Most of the training was done at the gym and in the kitchen (instead of the 5 various gas stations that Drew would frequent, sometimes each of the daily especially with all of his new found "free time"). Most people have to take things away from their diet to get in shape - well Drew had to add things - well, among take away but he needed to eat his substance ( like food - ya know instead of sodas and slap sticks).
Around the first week or so in December he decided that he needed to start running outside - this would be more fitting for Basic, but also he would have to pass his PT mile in order to qualify for basic or something like that - outside too... This happened a few times.
Somewhere in all this he was able to talk Greg into running with him, again - Greg is not a runner - he is a body builder - he will do his cardio if he has to drop weight but if he doesn't - then he won't.
When it was time for his big run they were so excited! I had to close the store that night so they headed downtown without me and I was to meet them there at the finish line. The overall goal of the whole race was to come as close to finishing at midnight. The race started at eleven and you had that hour to complete it.
The ran their race in exactly 28 minutes and they were the closest to midnight when they crossed at 12:01.

One down 16 left to go
This post may or may not sound ridiculous and childish…but these are my feelings, they are new and eye opening.

Everyone says that you have to lose something before you realize how much it meant to you – or something along those lines.
I have realized how much I love, adore, appreciate and need my dearest best friend and husband. He is the best at reading my closed book – comforting and loving me.
Drew has been gone for a week now some days are good days and the other days are really hard, harder than I had imagined. With my pregnancy I haven’t been sick (a huge blessing) but I have been so so very tired, I have no energy. All I want to do is sleep. With Drew gone it is much easier to lay in bed – sleep in – take long naps in the middle of the day – I think I am trying to sleep the next 16 weeks away. If only.
I have so much to do around the house – and I do work 37 odd hours a week, all I want to do is sleep.
It seemed like when he was home I was up and going with no problem – doing what I had to do and just moving right along.
I have lots of little projects going on: Sewing baby things for girl friends, learning to crochet, cooking with dear friends who distract me for hours, starting on my forever long book list…but again sleep sounds so much better. Oh, and avoid paying bills, being a responsible adult. ha
I miss him so much – I miss his voice, his arms, the loud breathing in the middle of the night – the stinky breath in my face from the heavy breathing in the middle of the night which would force me to roll over…ha I miss smelling the shop in my house – on him, his clothes, his pillow – I miss him calling me one of my twenty odd nick/pet names Bubs, Special Kiss Soup, Pickles – I am not sure where any of them come from but they are so special ha ha – silly but so special.
He named our little babe before he left – well it is just a pet name I guess – I hope… ha ha he calls it ‘Myrtle our little swimming Turtle’. He was always so good about talking to little Myrtle – oh and to us Myrtle is a boy, until we find out other wise{later part of Feb.} – we will be happy – overjoyed with either..but for now. He always told Myrtle to be good to Mommy while he was away.
I miss his noises around the house, picking up his socks at the end of the night, his dancing around the house.
I am comforted by the peace that I felt when we made this decision, it just sometimes, well I forget and it is easier to be sad and lonely than prayerful and grateful. I am comforted by the knowledge that he will come home to me in May, that he does live. I have read lately of a few Wife’s who lost there husbands at a young ages, I still have mine so my life is good. I pray for them that they will have strength to endure – I couldn’t imagine.
Thanks for listening, like I said some days are hard – today is one, but again – I have lots to do and I work today so all is well. I am just getting all this out of me and here seemed like a good place.

I did it, my Graduation post…
One of the scariest but most rewarding moments of my life so far would be sitting at one of my graduation ceremonies last Friday night. Serious butterflies fluttering around as we sat and waited for the night to start.
It was a comfort to have one of my favorite teachers (the college Dean) conduct the ceremony. It was weird to see her in a serious tone – but again, what a comfort – it was someone I knew who would be wishing me luck and applauding me as I took the next step in my life.
The next thing I knew my name was being called and I was walking across the stage to my college diploma – aka the empty blue folder. I cried. My favorite teacher and I hugged she said she was proud – and I had to walk down some stairs- again the butterflies – who’s idea was it to wear these heals? I was immediatly greeted by the Alumni Association and given a pin – ya know the lapel kind. Then it was over.
The podium where so many amazing and inspiring people have stood over the years.
Here I go!!!
After making it down the stairs and back to my seat
All done!

I am so blessed to have so many people who care for me and who have supported me along my little journey! It was so wonderful to have them there to celebrate with us! Four and a half years later I have something to say for myself!
Whoot!
These pictures are from the lunch date we had before Friday night’s festivities – I got me some pearls! I’m a lady now! ha ha

Blog signiture and Photoshop
In case you were wondering.
Also - with finals upon us here in the college world - I am looking at one more week of classes - sing praises - Also - due to finals and some photography work...
I never thought I would say this
I am kind of tired of sitting at the computer looking at the Photoshop screen -
But - my photobook via MyPublisher is now printed and on its way to my home then will be turned in for grading. 15 hours later of editing plus all the time it took to put each image together from here.
So ready for a break.
The husb (Private First Class Johnson) goes to his first weekend of Drill tomorrow through Sunday - This is where it all begins!
Oh, we went for a tour, over Thanksgiving of the place (still haven't gotten all the lingo down) where he is stationed in SLC (in the middle of nowhere 5000 W and 7th S.) and it is pretty dang sweet. Instead of putting them on cots (those from out of state) they get them a hotel room, and instead of hiring a cook for their galley the send them to a buffet. The facility is brand new - as of the Olympics in SLC in 2000 - I think that was the year...top notch stuff!
Also, on another bragging note- I am so proud - but he had his first physical trining tonight where they test his ability to do all the push ups, sit ups and running the mile and a few odds and ends of little assignments (map locations etc.) He said that he passed with flying colors! Awesome! he got his mile in 8 minutes which is so awesome since he hasn't ran in who knows how long and it was outside when it was about 10 degrees!! I am sure our little personal trainer will be thrilled when he finds out his work is paying off!
P.S. Movie Review
